First Fad - Facebook
Just about everyone around you knows what facebook is or has one. It has become so big in today's society that people check it constantly throughout the day. To show you how big it really has become in the last few years here is a website http://www.digitalbuzzblog.com/facebook-statistics-stats-facts-2011/ Some people even have it on there phone so they can use it whenever, where ever they want. It is used as one of the main ways people communicate in today's world because of how easy it is to find people. I believe this is a fad though because remember myspace? How big that was and then boom facebook came out and now no one used it anymore.
First Trend- Social Networking
Social Networking is here to stay unfortunately. I found a website that shows just how popular they have become www.joesblogg.com/2010/03/social-media-usage-statistics-2010. Long gone are the ways of actually having to talk to people face to face. Now people can express there problems, emotions, hatred and a whole lot of other stuff over these social networking sites. Even coming from a small town everyone uses these things to get connected to people who live far away. I use them to communicate to my old friends where i used to live in Texas. I believe this is a trend because they have been around for the last decade or so and have no signs of slowing down just getting bigger and bigger in peoples lives today.
Second Fad- Gold Rush
Gold Rush is a new TV show that is aired on the discovery channel every Friday night. And it seems like at least in my friend group every Friday night you can usually find us watching the new episode at one of our friends house. Heres a website on the show http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/gold-rush-alaska/. I listed this a Fad because one day this show will not be aired anymore and everyone will forget about it. But for the time being we watch it, and talk about it all the time. And it is a tradition that we watch it every Friday night.
Second Trend- Reality TV shows
It seems like in recent time the whole concept of reality TV shows have really caught on. Everyone has a show that they enjoy to watch wither it be Gold rush, Jersey Shore, Pawn Starts, and many more. Even though they shows will always fade and people will forget about them the concept wont. They is always people coming up with new ideas for these shows and it seems that every TV channel you watch they will always be a commercial for the next up and coming big new reality TV show. To show how Reality TV shows are growing in todays culture ive provided a link http://anhoward.wordpress.com/the-effect-reality-tv-is-having-on-us-shocking-statistics/
Third Fad- Clothing styles
Clothing trends in today's world is a lot different than ten years ago this is why i classified this has a fad. Today in my culture we all wear jeans, cowboy boots, a country brand shirt. I guess you can say we dress like rednecks. But in our eyes were dressing normal because that's how we grew up and the lifestyle we live. We grew up with everyone wearing these things so naturally we wear them. But this will change one time probably when we grow up and change our minds on whats cool and what isn't. But for right now its in to be "redneck" where we come from
Third Trend- Mobile Phones
Mobile Phones are becoming more popular everyday it seems like everyone is using them to do things like internet browsing, facebooking, taking pictures and much more. I use one and all my friends are using one. Long gone are the days of having a flip phone and being able just to text and call people. Now adays smartphones are able to have touch screens, play games and other things. This website really goes to show you the amount of people using phones in todays world. http://www.email-marketing-reports.com/wireless-mobile/smartphone-statistics.htm

Fourth Fad- Brad Paisley
I hope to god this is a fad because i wouldn't even classify him as country more of a pop singer if you ask me. But none the less he is still a fad in the town i grew up in. Our local radio station plays him allot and you hear his songs everywhere you go. I just hope there not here to stay for any long period of time. This is a fad because with all singers there songs will eventually die out and not be listened to as mush as they were in there hay day.
Fourth Trend- Country Music
You can hear country music everywhere in the town I grew up in. Its playing in the grocery stores, the cafes, and all the bars. It is very big in my life because we are usually listening to it. When were driving around town, when we a partying or just relaxing we have a good old country song blaring on the radio. It is a trend because there is always going to be a country music genre. There will always going to be a new crop of country music stars coming out. Wither you enjoy listing to oldies like Hank, Waylon, Cash and Willie or enjoy the new stuff from Hank Jr., Paisley, Alan Jackson.
Fifth Fad- Keystone
The beer keystone is a cheap beer made by the brewing company Coors. This beer is of less quality of Coors light and is not very good tasting. But it is CHEAP! And that's why its popular with my friend group because we can buy it for less then most beers. I classify this as a fad because our taste will change eventually and we will move on to more expensive better tasting beers because we wont worry as much about the price and more on the better tasting stuff.
Fifth Trend- Skiing
Skiiing has been around a very long time. The first known use of skiing was actually around 5000 BC. It has became so popular that it is even an olypic event. First skiing was used to get around if you lived in mountain villigas in the snow. Now adays it is used for a recreational sport with millions flocking every year to the nearest ski resort in there states. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skiing
I really liked how you grouped your fads against your trends. I would tend to agree with you on just about it all except for cheap beer. Trust me, it doesn't matter how much money you have, you will always have a buddy that brings the cheapest beer he can find to the party......and then drink YOUR quality barley sodas. That's what friends are for though. Anyhow, nice contrast in your selections.
